Presentation of the Master’s Program in Biology and Health:

The Biology and Health Master’s Program is organized into 12 specializations covering a wide range of training that prepares students to work in (i) biology and health research in public and private institutions, or (ii) technical and regulatory professions, healthcare and pharmaceutical biotechnology, neuroprosthetics and clinical trials. This Master’s Program provides truly coherent and transdisciplinary training and is supported by the Faculties of Medicine, Pharmacy and Science of the University of Montpellier.

Four specializations in the Biology and Health Program are geared more specifically towards professionalization, although pursuing a doctorate at the end of the Master’s studies is possible:

Therapeutic Engineering and Bioproduction in Health Biotechnology (IBIS)

Management and Evaluation of Therapeutic Trials (GET)

Project Management and Innovation in Biotechnology (BIOTIN)

Neuroprosthetics

Seven other specializations are more focused on basic research and thus provide preparation for doctoral studies, although professionalization at the end of the Master’s degree is also possible:

Cancer Biology

Medicinal and Translational Chemistry

Epigenetics, Genetics and Cell Biology (EpiGenBio)

Infection Biology

Experimental and Regenerative Medicine (MER)

Neuroscience

Quantitative Biology (qBio)

The DYNAMEID specialization – Dynamics of Emerging Infectious Diseases – is reserved for students enrolled in partner universities, mainly in Asia.

The scientific environment of the Biology and Health Master’s Program at the University of Montpellier is exceptional. Indeed, the Program is strongly oriented towards research, with the involvement of teacher-researchers and researchers who work in the many institutes and laboratories of Montpellier and the surrounding area. The training provided by this Master’s Program is perfectly in line with the scientific axes of the Health and Biology research cluster of the MUSE I-SITE (Montpellier University of Excellence). The combination of teaching and research prepares students for internships in a wide range of public or private laboratories (first and second years of the Program) and also allows them to attend conferences, workshops and theme days, thus offering undeniably enriching opportunities for scientific exposure and interaction with the professional world.

All the specializations of this Master’s Program share teaching units (common core UEs). The transversality of these common core courses over the two-year Program is part of the commitment to interaction between the different specializations in the BioHealth field.

The use of English as a language of instruction is gradually becoming more widespread.

We welcome students in science or health majors. Entry into the first year of the Biology and Health Master’s Program (M1) is selective. Applications are made online through the e-Candidat platform, generally in April and May. The exact opening and closing dates of the platform vary according to the specialization.
